The Program The Program

The Graduate Program in Music at the Federal University of Pernambuco was created in 2016, from the meeting of research groups and professors working in various graduations at UFPE, all with research in the area of Music. Among the professors there are musicians, ethnomusicologists, historians, anthropologists, sociologists and communicators. The faculty, after obtaining a specific degree in their fields of expertise, felt the need for a more specific dialogue between Music researchers. Thus, the process of consolidation of research activities led to the elaboration of a project that culminated in the opening of the Master's Course in Music, the first in Pernambuco.

From the outset, the PPGM has sought to combine the activities of training high-level personnel and research and interaction with the student body. The program is preparing for the first CAPES evaluation, to take place in 2020.
